Jefferson Elementary Staff Member Named “School Breakfast Hero”
Posted on 03/28/2019
Congratulations to Jefferson staff member Sivette Mercado who was recognized as a School Breakfast Hero by the No Kid Hungry Pennsylvania organization. Each year Allentown School District serves more than 800,000 breakfasts and 2.2 million lunches to students in the district.

Ms. Sivette is a dedicated worker who has been a part of the Child Nutrition Services department since 2002. She is always willing to lend a hand - to her other co-workers, the students, or the cafeteria manager. Ms. Sivette always makes the students at Jefferson feel welcome each morning as they arrive for breakfast.

Ms. Sivette has a winning personality and shares her genuine kindness to all ASD students. After breakfast at Jefferson, she heads to Lehigh Parkway Elementary, where she has a lunch “fan club.” This is what makes her a true breakfast hero!
No Kid Hungry Pennsylvania aims to recognize the everyday heroes who make school breakfast possible for students. It takes a village – teachers, principals, superintendents, custodians, coaches, cafeteria staff, advocates, elected officials – the list goes on! The contest runs annually each February and winners are announced in March.

On March 28, Principal Adams, Patrick McCarty, ASD Director of Child Nutrition Services, Laura Bowman, Cafeteria Manager, Scott Cole, Executive Director of Elementary Education and students from Jefferson Elementary were on hand to congratulate Ms. Sivette and present her with a certificate and pin to recognize her accomplishments!
